You have 14 days from the day that you receive your order to contact us for a full refund or exchange. Once you have contacted us for a return or exchange, you have another 14 days from that point to have your garment(s) back to our studio. If we don’t hear from you or the 14 day window passes, we may no longer be able to offer the original refund or exchange. If it is within 4 weeks of the date of your order, we can offer you a store credit in the amount of your purchase, minus shipping. Once 4 weeks has passed, we are no longer able to take back any garments. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with your order number and the items you wish to return to start your return process.
Upon arriving to our studio, we carefully inspect each garment that comes back to us to ensure that the item is in the exact same condition as when it left our facility. If we find stains, dirt, or other visible signs of wear, we will deduct a Cleaning and Restocking Fee of $25 from your refund or store credit amount. Since we are a made-to-order company, each top we create for you is a labor of love and therefore we must account for wear-and-tear.
Each country has its own rules and fees, and unfortunately we are not able to alter or offset those. We are not responsible for any customs fees or duties associated with receiving your order internationally. Please contact your country’s postal service for more information.
There are many factors that can cause streaking on the raw silk. It is most likely to happen on darker colors as the dye is more sensitive in the higher pigmented colors (just like indigo dye in jeans). Soap build up, fibers from other garments, hard water, detergent choice, and water temperature are all things that can cause variance in the color/ texture of the raw silk. If streaking occurs, you can try soaking in a solution of natural soap and water or hydrogen peroxide-based cleaning solution. You can also try soaking your garment in vinegar and salt, which helps to clear buildup on the fibers as well as stabilize the dye. A cup of vinegar and 1/2 cup of salt per load does the trick. We find a lot of success with this method, particularly! To best care for your raw silk garments, be sure to read our Fabric Care Guide carefully.
In general, our T Sweater fits very wide and slightly cropped. The bust, length, arm and neck openings are graded for each size. To give an oversized style, the bust measurement is generous and can fit many sizes. Because of this, there is room to play with the sizing of our T Sweaters, although we usually recommend you start with your true-to-size preference because the arm and neck openings are most likely to fit as intended. Some opt to size up for length or a more roomy fit, but we advise against going two above your usual size, as it may start to feel too big at that point. We offer an extended length for those who prefer more coverage or need the extra length. Be sure to consult our Size Guide to ensure the best fit!
Once your item arrives to fulfillment, it will be packed and labeled. Our system sends out an automatic notification once the label is created and you will be provided with a tracking number. We ship via USPS Priority mail for domestic orders and USPS First Class International for international orders. We have regularly scheduled pick-ups from our studio on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Sometimes there is a day between the creation of your label and when the USPS makes its pick-up. If you have any specific questions or requests regarding shipping, please email email@example.com .
The T Top and Pocket Box Top were originally one-size-fits-all garments. We have since updated and graded the pattern to fit each size. To keep the integrity of the original design of both garments, we kept the bust measurement the same across all sizes. We have graded the neck, and arm openings as well as the length to better fit each size. You can find exact measurements on our Size Guide.
We hear this question often, and as consumers ourselves we of course are conscious of the price tag on our items. In a world of fast, throw-away fashion, we strive to be a different type of company. We made a promise to ourselves when we began J+J that we would run a business that not only supported hard working people in and around our community, but a business that would provide quality long-lasting garments produced in the USA. It is incredibly expensive and challenging to manufacture garments right here in our studio and we work to keep our price tag down as much as we can. But rest assured that every penny goes towards providing a life for each of our employees and their families.
We love to source as much domestically as we can, and especially love to support other small businesses like ourselves! Our hand wovens are our most transparent garments, as they can be traced from seed to sew and currently produced in the USA by small batch weavers. Our silk crepe and raw silk are currently sourced from China as these items are not available domestically at this time.
We ship using USPS First Class International. We are not responsible for packages once they leave our facility. As per the USPS website, packages shipped via USPS First Class International typically take 7-21 days to arrive. However, it is not uncommon for packages to be held in customs for an extended amount of time. We are unable to locate or track a package once it reaches customs. We are not liable for issues pertaining to packages that haven’t arrived to their destinations. Please contact your local post office for issues regarding international shipments.
We are usually able to schedule in-studio pick ups of orders! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about picking up your order. Please note that we may not be able to accommodate all requests and will then mail your order as planned.
We are a made-to-order company, meaning that once we have your order, we place it into production with our trusted team of talented seamstresses. Each piece is cut, sewn, and quality checked right here in our Nashville studio. For this reason, we require 2-4 weeks for all regular orders to be produced.
Unfortunately, the original shipping charge that you paid upon ordering is non-refundable as per our shipping policy. Since we are a made-to-order company, we can't refund back shipping charges when refunding back the garment that was produced specifically for an order. As a growing company, it's tough for us to absorb the cost of shipping and the cost of a returned garment. As far as returning items, we also are not responsible for shipping charges coming back, so you will have to pay the post office (or whichever carrier you choose) to send it back.
